Library Services
The Nutting Memorial Library is located in Platz Hall and part of adjoining Quick Hall. Its holdings include approximately 71,000 titles and 2,100 videocassettes, DVDs, and sound recordings. The library subscribes to more than 350 domestic and international periodicals and has extensive retrospective serial holdings, both in print and on microform. The collections are particularly strong in the areas of maritime studies, marine technology, international business, and nautical history. Students and faculty also have online access to thousands of other full-text journals, and to a statewide library catalog of more than 2.5 million books, which may be borrowed through interlibrary loan.
The library serves as a
selective U.S. government documents depository, emphasizing maritime,
engineering, oceanographic, and business publications. Links to online
government information are found on the library's web site. As a depository for
the National Imagery and Mapping Agency and the National Ocean Survey, the
library houses nearly 4,800 maps and charts of the world and of the territorial
waters of the

There are fifteen computer workstations, a networked laser printer, a scanner, and wireless network access is available as well. All PCs have basic MS Office software installed for student use.
Nutting Memorial Library provides numerous online and CD periodical indexes and databases, as well as their older print versions.

available within the library, as well as tables and individual study carrels in
quiet areas on all three floors. Two spacious reading rooms offer
